Welcome to animasuri’s blog. This is a first post. It’s a blog; enough said. Or is it?
What’s in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet?
Although this blog shares the same name, it’s main parental website, the animasuri URL is a family-centric hub. That means family variables are of importance in the nature of the hub’s shared content and links. This blog only shares the name, it is maintained by the same administrator for the purpose of all technicalities involved but, that’s where the similarities and associations as of now end. It begs a paradox: can sharing one and the same name , same address, same technology be perceived as yet defining different entities, different avatars, different persona; or are individual “sovereignties” compromised, perhaps entirely dismissed as valid?
Hierarchical versus rhizomic
It has been established that the animasuri URL is a collective of links that lead to the individual’s participatory sites, blogs, galleries or the likes. This blog is one such link within that URL. Although, currently as it is technologically devised the structure strongly gives the impression of being hierarchical. It would be silly to deny. However, it is the hope that this fact is where this authoritarian hint ends and the rhizomic nature of its participants’ content.
This animasuri blog is as such different from its parent URL as well as from its participatory sister links. This stated this is a blog: it brings together sets of related information or individual entries provided by a single individual, animasuri aka Jan Hauters.
animasuri blog and its content
It’s entitled to be a repository of artistic and cultural critical content as such much of its intended content shall be as such. On the one hand this implies creations by animasuri. The anticipated creations by its immediate family members shall not be found here. Those shall be found on their respective assigned links found on the animasuri URL.
emotional note
Some of the hosting URL’s participants are currently not yet born; the twins. They shall find the opportunity in the event they provide it freely across future time-space. These shall commence with digitized content . Which ever media the twins end up using, if any, shall perhaps be captured by mean of digital photography or scanners. The intention is thus to create a chronological archive of creative expressions throughout the initial years of childhood development. Their content shall most likely not be found here. It shall be found on one or other link accessible via the main URL; the home page of which I am a family member.
…on a highly different textural note: animasuri—what? who? huh?
anima suri (a.k.a animasuri, animasuri, animasuri, animasuri’10, animasuri’11)
animasuri is an ongoing project using technologies as media, text as sound and sometimes visuals as odors.
animasuri is trans-media.
It is possibly mixed with irony, possibly with salad or coconuts; depending on the gaseous nature of transatlantic chatter. animasuri is a rational, calculated forecast of the surreal. It comments and reflects on the perceptions of daily experiences while losing all grips with it. It is highbrow on a low hanging belly.
animasuri provides surrealist BrainNnocularZ containing contextual media from teaspoons to nailtrimmings. Some of animasuri’s forms drink bear, or cuddle beer. Some pick noses, or snooze with pixies. Others tap on keys or rather let them tap on others. Therefor, animasuri is clearly straightshooting vegan.
animasuri is cerebrally monkey-styled.
animasuri browses through the intertwined visual corridors connecting sound art, visual aberrations, appropriationist art, sound poetry and the spoken or written word. As source material visual bits, conceptual queues or soundbites are derived from pre-existing sonic or other materials, artificial creations and digital errors, environmental record-keeping, bio-confabulation and appropriation of context.
animasuri is ex- in the premature sense of the word.
Etymologically, animasuri is a French-like sourir pickpocketing an Anglican feminist Latin soul. animasuri is not French nor English nor American and surely not Spanish or Brazilian; it is homi in a Bhabha-esque swirl.
It is balance found in the chaos of established stereotypes while acknowledging male nipples are trans-national and universally misunderstood. As a reflection of an extrinsically-labeled happily married white Caucasian Judeo-Christian heterosexual Buddha-lover, animasuri finds harmonious solace in Judith Butler’s Gender Trouble without any sexual troubling implications.
Politically left-free, animasuri is capitalistically comfy bathing in loyal conservative strands amidst its progressive left libertarian conceptualizations with a-communist socialist twists.
animasuri contradicts therefor it is not.
